10 Ways LG Crisis Destroys Osun APC Ahead of Guber Poll

10 Ways LG Crisis Destroys Osun APC Ahead of Guber Poll

1. Osun people at the grassroots understand in detail the legal controversy, and they mostly blame the Osun APC for deliberately twisting and lying about court judgments that sacked and re-sacked them in 2022 and 2024. The people hold the Osun APC as a guilty party in the LG crisis.

2. The people at the grassroots consider as criminal the conduct of the Osun APC and UBA in the illegal opening and custody of Osun local government funds, which violated local government finance laws duly passed by the State Assembly. The people regard the Osun APC as having stolen public funds belonging to the third tier of government.

3. The public at the grassroots is particularly shocked and angry that the real reason for the APC’s criminal conduct on Osun LG funds is to stop Governor Adeleke from executing what they see as commendable infrastructure development across all parts of the state without discrimination. The people are miffed that a party can be so anti-people as to concoct a crisis designed to stall growth and development in the state.

4. The people and the public are also pissed off by the apparent insensitivity and criminality of the Yes/No chairmen in paying themselves and their cronies fat salaries and allowances while local workers were left to suffer. The sheer effrontery of dipping their hands into public funds as unelected officials raises deep anger in the minds of the public.

5. The people and the voting public are getting angrier by the day because they know that the illegal tenure, if any, of the Yes/No chairmen lapsed on October 26, 2025. The sit-tight conduct, against the spirit of the Constitution and the Supreme Court judgment, deepens public animosity against the Osun APC.

6. The imposition of levies and the collection of same in Osun markets and parks by the tenureless Yes/No chairmen widen public anger and validate the perception of the Osun APC as a lawless, anti-people, and corruption-minded party.

7. The temerity of the illegal APC chairmen to seek an extension of tenure, which they do not have in the first place, strengthens the public perception that the Osun APC has no regard or respect for the voting public. The voters largely see the Osun APC as dominated by rogue politicians without public interest at heart.

8. The occupation of council secretariats by force and the paralysis of local governments have grounded local services. While the public sees the state government as supporting local health workers, education staff, and pensioners, the Osun APC is judged as deliberately strangulating the people and the local government system while diverting public funds for personal use.

9. The recent grading of rural roads by the Yes/No chairmen has backfired, not only because they lack legitimacy, but also because the exercise is seen by the public as a means of siphoning public funds into private pockets. People question the poor quality of the jobs, the politicisation of substandard work, and the over N400 million per local government reportedly expended by the Yes/No chairmen.

10. The worst case for the Osun APC is the reported plan to buy vehicles for the police from the hijacked and diverted local government funds. First, the funds were illegally hijacked in contravention of local government finance laws. Second, UBA is already standing trial over the handling of the funds. Third, the funds are proceeds of crime, for which those handling them will be held accountable. The public is miffed that the Yes/No chairmen are so audacious as to attempt to bribe the police with vehicles bought from stolen public funds.
