Ambo in Fresh Certificate, Name Scandal as APP Drags APC Candidate to Court

A major political storm has erupted ahead of the Osun State governorship election as the Action Peoples Party (APP) has dragged the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, before the Federal High Court in Osogbo over explosive allegations bordering on certificate irregularities and identity manipulation.

In court documents sighted, the APP accused the APC flagbearer of submitting questionable credentials to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), raising serious concerns about his qualification to contest the election.

At the heart of the controversy is a troubling name discrepancy. The affidavit alleges that Oyebamiji used the name “Munirudeen” in an official Federal Government appointment, a name which, according to the suit, does not appear on any of his known academic records or personal documents.

The party further claimed that the APC candidate served as Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority under the disputed identity, without ever providing any legal documentation to reconcile the difference.

According to the filing, the same set of disputed documents was submitted to INEC as part of his nomination, prompting the APP to question the credibility of the electoral screening process.

The suit is asking the court to declare that INEC erred in publishing Oyebamiji’s name as a qualified candidate and to disqualify him from the race entirely on grounds of alleged false information and identity inconsistency.

Political observers say the case, if proven, could significantly alter the dynamics of the Osun governorship contest, as it raises fundamental questions about transparency, due process, and the integrity of candidates seeking public office.

Efforts to reach the APC campaign for comments were unsuccessful as of press time.

The case is now before the court, with proceedings expected to draw intense public and political attention in the coming weeks.
