Accord Condemns Osun APC Sponsored Attacks on Elder John Oyadeji

Osun state chapter of the Accord has strongly condemned recent attacks on Elder John Oyadeji who recently defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the ruling party in the state.

The party in a statement from its media centre accused the Osun APC of responsibility for the incident, describing it as “an assault on freedom of association and democratic choice”

Warning against political violence, the party noted that Elder Oyadeji of the popular Oyadeji family of Ada, Boripe Local Government recently defected to the Accord alongside other top leaders from Iragbiji and other towns in the home local government of Marine Minister, Gboyega Oyetola.

Other leaders who defected alongside Elder Oyadeji include Alh. Kareem Afolabi, former Chairman of Boripe Local Government and Former Chairman, APC Elders Caucus, Iragbiji; Hon. Ademola Oyeleke, former Councilor, Ward 01, Iragbiji; Dr. Fakorede Ibikunle from Ada; Hon. Debo Fasina Ward 02, Iragbiji; Mr Oyewole Rafiu from Iragbiji; Mr Tope Abiola Afolabi; Mr Okediya James from Ward 05, Aagba; and Hon. Fakunle Mashood Oluwole, Ward 03, Iragbiji.

“As a ruling party, we strongly condemn the attacks on the respected politician and community leader, Elder Oyadeji. This is a new low which must be nipped in the bud.

“ Citizens reserve the right to belong to a political party of their choice. We call for impartial police investigation into the matter. The culprits must be brought to book”, the statement noted.
