PRESS RELEASE
Oyetola Administration Worst Ever in Osun Health Sector, Alimi Replies ex-gov's aide
OSOGBO - 10/2/2026 - Osunstate.gov.ng
The present administration has done remarkably well in the area of health sector just like other sectors which the people of the state are currently heaving a sigh of relief as opposed to the decrepit nature with which the immediate past governor of Osun state and current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola shamelessly left it after his four years of spineless leadership .
This was the immediate reaction of Osun state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi while countering a news story credited to one, Dr Bolaji Akintola, said to be a Special Adviser to Oyetola.
Reacting to the criticisms of Adeleke led administration by Oyetola’s aide as made available to newsmen, Alimi wondered how on earth could Dr Akintola have descended so low in carrying out such empty and baseless condemnation of an administration like that of Adeleke, which on two consecutive occasions made Osun state proud in a nationally organized health sector challenge throughout Nigeria.
Alimi said without any iota of doubt such condemnation by Dr Akintola might have arisen under the guise of currying the favour of his pay master and mentor, Oyetola who, will go down in history as the worst performer in health sector while holding sway as Osun governor between 2018 and 2022.
Alimi's immediate reaction takes more of the following postures
"I find it totally shocking and disheartening that Dr Bolaji Akinola could easily lose touch with reality on ground while his boss, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola was at the helm of affairs as the Governor of our dear state .
"It is only a mischief maker and an apologist of the APC led opposition party in Osun that will make such a sweeping condemnation of Adeleke as saying that he has nothing meaningful to showcase in the health sector.
"Though the present administration is of the view that there are still rooms for improvement, things, are, however far better in the health sector under Adeleke than the previous hogwash condition with which the immediate past admin of Oyetola left the sector after his four year clueless and spineless administration .
"I must put it to Dr Akintola and others in his shoes that by now things would have been far great and better throughout Osun state had it been the past administration lived up to the desired expectations of the people in health sector and other sectors which were left in a decrepit condition after Oyetola's four year reign.
"It is on record that the administration of the current Minister of Marine and Blue Economy while he was the governor of Osun state inherited a whopping sum of $20m US (equivalent to about #8 billion ) at that time, for the health sector which got mismanaged . Today such money is in the range of about #30b yet to be accounted for.
“If Akintola did not know, his recent condemnation of Adeleke's health sector performance is a quick reminder to let him know that a petition to that effect is currently pending before EFCC & ICPC for Oyetola and his other co-accusers like Dr Usamotu( Ex-Commissioner for health ), Eng.Remi Omowaye (Ex- Commissioner for Works) etc for a charge of mismanagement of such humongous amount of money meant for Osun health sector.
"To right the many wrongs of Oyetola in the said health sector, Ademola Adeleke took the bull by the horns to rehabilitate over 200 primary health care centres, out of the 332 in the entire state, which, by now, would have been completed were it not for the clear acts of political shenanigans and impunity currently being glorified by the opposition APC in the state on the funds belonging to Osun people through the LGs.
"However, Ademola Adeleke administration is again using this opportunity to let the whole world know that despite the seeming endless imbroglio that occasioned the seizure of LG funds allocation, Osun under Adeleke has been a trial blazer .
"To lend credence to this, Osun in the year 2024 made history when it came first in a primary health care challenge over five other states in the South West zone . As a reward, Osun got a whopping sum of #500,000.OO which the state again repeated the same feat in 2025 in the same primary health care challenge.
"The question to ask Mr Oyetola’s aide in person of Dr.Bolaji Akintola and his co-travellers is: if Osun state without the availability of local government funds from which the primary health care centres were supposed to be taken care of, which came first in the South West is said to have destroyed the Primary Health care, what would Oyetola says to other states that came behind Osun state?
“For example, states like Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti and Ondo who are all APC controlled states that could not secure the first position in the South West ?
"Dr Akintola should advise his boss, Mr Oyetola to stop gerrymandering his act of political bitterness by misinforming the people especially when the reality of his impending prosecution by the two anti grafts agencies( EFCC and ICPC ) beckons anytime from now over the mismanagement of US $2O million health sector fund when he was governor of Osun..
"I make bold to say that kudos must be given to the Adeleke led administration, which despite the withheld LG funds being masterminded by APC, is still commendably managing the little resources of the state which today has recorded an efficient and effective PHC .
"Lest I forget, the likes of Dr Akinola should also be told and informed that the PHC challenge is usually a nationwide programme being organised by Nigeria Governors Forum ( NGF), Federal Ministry of Health and Bill-Gate Foundations ,among other highly respected national and international bodies. It is not an Osun state based competition, which out of the usual political mischief and misinformation, Osun APC could have misdirected the thinking and orientation of innocent Osun citizens that it was done to favour the administration of Ademola Adeleke which has won the PHC challenges, back to back,(in 2024 and 2025 )
"Conversely under the former Oyetola led administration, Osun never got mentioned or even listed for second or third position in the PHC challenge . What a shameful performance!
"Please keep mute and appreciate good governance as currently being carried out by the Imole Osun led administration of His Excellency, Senator ( Dr) Ademola Adeleke," concluded the Commissioner.
E Signed
